Manchester United have now reportedly made contact with a serial winner new manager, who wants to take on the challenge of rebuilding the club.
Man Utd advanced towards Solskjaer interim hire
It’s de ja vu at Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in talks to take charge of the club until at least the end of the season. It wasn’t so long ago that Ole was at the wheel in his first stint and he could be about to return for the first time since facing the sack in 2021.
It’s a decision which has already split opinion, including Gary Neville’s. The Old Trafford legend, whilst backing his former teammate, admitted that Man United have been stuck in their very own “Groundhog Day” since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson over 10 years ago.
He told Sky Sports: “They put Ryan [Giggs] in charge 10 years ago, then Ole came in charge and you go back to the old boys, then you go for a new one, then you go for more experience.
“It is almost like a cycle, like a movie we have all seen before and Groundhog Day. What I do think is Ole is someone who absolutely loves the club, he knows the job, he has been in the job.”
Meanwhile, beyond their caretaker boss, Man United’s plan remains unclear. In the long-term, names such as Oliver Glasner and Enzo Maresca have been mentioned as targets, but questions will be asked about their stature over other targets.
Man Utd make contact with Luis Enrique
One man who certainly has the stature to take charge at Old Trafford is Luis Enrique. According to reports in Spain, INEOS have made contact with Enrique, who wants to take the challenge of transforming Man United back into the unstoppable giants that they were throughout Ferguson’s long tenure.
